CONCERT POSTERS

This collection of concert posters is largely comprised of work created by Serigraphics in Indianapolis in the 1970s and 1980s. Serigraphics provided point of ticket sale posters that were designed and silk screened onto heavy paper stock. A common hallmark observed in most of these poster designs is a split fountain ink, which gives the blend effect across two or more colors. Also noteworthy, Serigraphics began to reach beyond central Indiana to produce posters for concerts in other states, notably Louisville, Pittsburgh, Dayton and central Illinois and several colleges and Univestities, among others.

Eventually, Serigraphics produced the posters as novelty items that could be purchased at record stores in the early 1980s. These were shrink wrapped flat against a cardboard backer and usually sold retail for a few dollars.These can often be indentified by the small text "Serigraphics," "BRS," or "Concert Art" at the bottom of the poster and/or the letters CA and numerals following.

Some of these are quite expensive now and difficult to find in good condition. If they were used as concert ticket sales poster adverts, tape residue or pin holes, wrinkles or even tears may be present. The same can be said if they were use dto decorate bedroom walls or dorm rooms. If you find one that is still shrink wrapped, the poster paper is likely suffering from acid burns from the cardboard backer.

Most of the posteres below are from my personal collection and were produced by Serigraphics. Only a few of the posters below are probably not from Serigraphics, but are similarly silkscreened on heavier paper stock.
